Finally
got back on the water after a very long winter with virtually no fishing for Monte whose been busier than a one armed man in a rowing contest. Pulled the boat to Fairfield and met up with fishin bud Rock and hit Fairfield Lake Saturday at mid-day for a couple of hours as a break from the boat mechanicing we were doing on Rock's boat. He landed the only fish of the day on a bright orange worm. This looked like a male and was really beat up from building his nest.
After that we were back at work on Roy's boat. We had to run two new steering cables and a throttle cable. Monte's still sore from having to stand on his head while forcing that carn sarn cable into place. We kept threatening to pull the motor off the transom but it never came to that. We got lucky, I guess.
So, why hasn't Monte been fishing all winter? Well, the little woman kept him busy searching for a new house. Monte wasn't into it at first but quickly caught the fever. We must have looked at 100 houses before we finally chose one, the perfect one. We may be in this one for some time to come, we really like it. But we still have unpacked boxes all over which could keep Monte off the water even longer unless he just pulls one. May have to do what Hank Hill did when someone asked him to pass the salt at the breakfast table. "That's it! I'm goin fishin!"
